Ken Hickson – Biography
Ken Hickson, with more than 40 years experience in the communications industry, is a strategic communications consultant, author and lecturer. Currently based in Brisbane, he has previously been in Singapore for 17 years, where he managed his own international communications consultancy dealing with all industry sectors and media throughout the Asia Pacific.
Ken has been involved in communicating climate change and conservation through his work with WWF - he is a Governor of WWF Australia - and researching/consulting for clients, which culminated in his setting up ABC Carbon in 2007. He has also completed the writing and publishing of his book"The ABC of Carbon" and he also produces a weekly e-newsletter abc carbon express.
For the past 7 years he has lectured at the University of the Sunshine Coast in International Communication, Public Relations, Media & Promotion and was appointed Associate Professor (Adjunct) in December 2005.
He started out as a journalist in New Zealand, which included reporting/editing for newspapers, radio, television and magazines for a total of 14 years. He specialised in aviation writing for a time and wrote a book on Antarctic aviation disaster, entitled "Flight 901 to Erebus".
